Chennai: At least10 passengers were dead and at least 50 passengers were reported to be critically injured in train accident near Arakkonam. Injured passengers were shifted to Arakkonam Government hospital.
Railways minister Dinesh Trivedi announced compensation of five lakh for the dead, one lakh for the seriously injured and twenty five thosands for the others.
Trivedi refused to speak about the cause of the incident he said the accident's cause will be investigated.
This is the second major train accident in this year.
